The COVID-19 pandemic, which began at the end of 2019, has changed our lives in ways we couldn't have imagined before.

Countries worldwide reacted with varying measures like lockdowns and curfews to curb the virus spread. In Germany, this is followed by a period in which the rules and regulations are changed on a daily basis.

This is the reason why the app “Darf ich das?” is being launched on the German market. The app is designed to provide an overview of what is currently permitted and what is not. Nevertheless, the app still has many areas that could be better implemented.

#01 Analyse

Pain points of the app

At the beginning, we analysed the app using various methods. We interviewed users of the app to identify problems with its use. A screen flow created an overview of the complete functional scope of the application. This revealed the complexity and inconsistencies in behaviour and design. In addition, we carried out a competitive analysis with similar applications. This included identifying the strengths and weaknesses in order to discover possible potential for the redesign.

#02 User profiles

The motivations, needs and goals of our users

Based on these findings and the conducted interviews, user profiles were created and the motivations, needs and goals of the users were summarised.

#03 Key insights

Key changes for the redesign

After the research, the key findings were summarised and the necessary changes for the redesign were worked out. The Delight feature has also been defined as part of this process: Through personalisation, users should be able to design the application according to their interests.

#05 Prototype

Redesign of the app

The screen designs were then developed on the basis of a use case and processed into a prototype.
